In my stained and fused glass, I focus on and highlight the beauty and repetition of pattern in nature, as well as the interplay of colors and textures with ambient light. I frequently include natural found materials such as shells or stones.
My custom stained glass windows focus on the client’s interest and location. One client wanted a Frank Lloyd Wright-style design in sophisticated colors, another totally Victorian, and another a Craftsman style with dogwoods...the options are infinite. A custom glass product is just that: personalized. The customer and site determine the design, colors, and final product.
Creating glass art is similar to a jigsaw puzzle: many pieces and colors need to fit in to each other. But the difference is, you don’t know the “picture” you’re working with until its finished! And there are always surprises to behold. On the surface, glass seems sharp and rigid. Working with it, it becomes fluid and flowing—changing unexpectedly when fired or juxtaposed to other colors in daylight, moonlight, or in your home.
